My Ever Growing Love Story: Letting God Lead Your Ministry & Your Home
by Rachel Peppo
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV)
My ministry is my life with God. I choose to share it with other people.
I am a wife, a mother, a pastor, a sister, a friend, and a daughter. I homeschool our children, and I am also in the process of adopting our son through the foster-to-adopt program. I have learned that, in all my roles, my relationship with God has to be the primary priority.
As the love story unfolds and my understanding of God’s great love deepens, I am more effective in all areas.
I begin my days trying to stay in bed for as long as possible! My handsome hubby brings me coffee, and I usually get tons of snuggles from our 3 year old son. (Don't roll your eyes...there is a pile of unfolded laundry on my couch and my daughters are unhappy to be drug out of bed to begin school!)
My day doesn't officially begin until I pray, which usually consists of me thanking God for my family, our home, our loved ones, and asking for His guidance and blessings each step of the way!
I have been learning to follow His leading for our ministry and our home.
Our family began praying about where our campus should be located. We would drive to different cities, pray for the specific area, and ask God to let us know where we should be. Each time we would go to Laplace my heart fell more and more in love with this city. Our family prayers began to be about Laplace, and God has given us peace through each change.
The week before we opened the doors of our church, Laplace was devastated by tornadoes. We are all safe, but my in-law's home was destroyed. They are now living with us as they rebuild. So, our four bedroom home has been expanded to include 7 people and 5 dogs!
Life is never what you expect or plan. In order to live a Christ-filled life, you have to release your own ideas you have for your life and ask God for His.
Let God give you the breath to inhale and love life. I take each situation I personally face and ask God what he is trying to teach me. I thank God for teaching me, even though I may be clenching my teeth through the lesson!
While letting God lead in our home, I have learned to declare the specific promises God has given to our family for lives in ministry.
Try it; DECLARE them! Seriously, state them aloud, scream them if you must! And remember to encourage your husband with these declarations. Hint...don't scream them at your husband. Maybe just empower him with those words before he goes into his next meeting!
In allowing God to lead it is important to remember to love yourself. God loves every intricate part of you and you should be proud of His workmanship. Take care of yourself.
Simply stated, this is my life and my ever growing love story.
